Happy Half Birthday!

Hi Baby. Yesterday you turned 6 months old. Congrats, you're now 'half'. It seems like it's gone by so fast, but when I think back to the day you were born and how small you were, I realize how much you've learned and progressed. I'm so proud of you, and myself too, for successfully keeping you thriving for half a year!

We celebrated by introducing you to a meal of pureed organic sweet potatoes. You loved them! You've eaten rice cereal before, but as evidenced by your expressions, its pretty bland tasting and you seemed to long for something more exciting. Sweet potatoes, for Sweet T.

After your inaugural meal, I presented you with a new pair of jammies to sleep in (in the next size up, 6-9 months) and a set of blocks to play with (for ages 6 months+). We got to playing with the blocks right away, you had a great time with them. While I was filming you at play, Kitty XL came over to wish you a happy half-birthday. He brushed up against you, and you two had a little 'moment'. Just so you know, you and the cat are the same weight, though you're gaining on him quickly.

You had the sweet potatoes again this evening. You knew what was going on right away when I put you in your hi-chair, and were pretty excited about it!

Happy New Year Baby Girl!

Happy New Year Tristyn! That means today is the first day (January 1) of the year 2008. You're 5 months old now, and so much has changed. Your eyes are still very blue. A lot of people say they think they'll stay that color because they are so bright. When you were in my belly I always thought you'd have green eyes, like both your grandfathers.

Since today is a holiday, your Dad and I both had the day off of work. He caught a cold, so he had to stay in bed resting, and you didn't get to visit him much because we didn't want you to catch it. So you and I played together the whole day. We went outside and sat on a blanket on the grass in the backyard. Kitty XL came with us, too. You like to go outside and look at the trees and plants, and feel the breeze on your skin. Sometimes when you are mad and crying, and I can't get you to stop, I just walk outside with you and you're happy right away!

Your latest stunt is sitting up all by yourself, of which you are quite proud. You have been keeping me very busy, but most of the time its pretty fun.

My birthday was a few weeks ago. I turned 32. As a gift to me, you laughed that day. That was the best birthday gift I've ever gotten. In fact, I can't really even remember much else about that day, except for your laugh. It's not my fault, really. You see pregnancy creates all these hormone changes inside my body, and they made me forgetful, and kind of dinghy, too. It's supposed to go away soon :)
